Bedell Bahia Dreadnought Adirondack Spruce–Brazilian Rosewood Natural Finish

Handcrafted in Oregon, USA — featuring century-aged Brazilian rosewood with SITES certification for international shipping

The Bedell Bahia Dreadnought is a masterpiece of American luthiery — handcrafted in Oregon, USA using some of the rarest and most storied tonewoods ever sourced. Each Bahia is accompanied by a SITES certificate, ensuring full legal documentation for international ownership and transport of its precious, pre-convention Brazilian rosewood.

More than fifty years ago, several Brazilian rosewood logs were shipped from Northeastern Brazil to a small company near Madrid, Spain, that specialized in church ornaments. Stored untouched for generations, these logs eventually found their way to Madinter — one of the world’s most respected tonewood suppliers. Over the decades, in Spain’s ideal climate, the wood naturally aged and cured, with sap crystallizing and fibers relaxing to create a resonance unmatched by any modern alternative.

In 2013, Bedell Guitars acquired Madinter’s entire stock of this extraordinary Brazilian rosewood — wood that was legally harvested long before the 1960s export ban, the 1972 CITES convention, and the 1992 endangered species declaration. Every set is fully documented and certified, making these guitars both historically significant and completely compliant for international shipping.

The Bahia Dreadnought pairs this exceptional Brazilian rosewood with a solid Adirondack spruce top, known for its clarity, power, and dynamic response. Together, they deliver a commanding, full-bodied voice with deep, articulate bass and shimmering highs — a tone that feels alive under every touch.

Meticulously detailed with a Honduran mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, koa binding, and mosaic pin inlays, this guitar radiates understated luxury. Waverly gold tuners with ebony buttons complete the look, while a Bedell Custom Ameritage case ensures lasting protection. Finished in a stunning gloss natural, the Bahia Dreadnought captures the essence of timeless craftsmanship and tonal perfection.
