Frequently asked questions
Can I use the Artisan Traditional Sym for rock or metal?
No. SABIAN lists it as not ideal for heavy rock, metal, or high-volume live sound. Its short sustain and controlled decay are engineered for orchestral clarity, not the projection and longevity rock drummers require.
What do I get with the XSR set, and is it enough for a complete kit?
You get a four-piece configuration: 14" hi-hats, 16" crash, 20" ride, and a free 18" crash. This is a complete working drum cymbal set suitable for live performance and studio sessions without additional purchases.
Are both made from B20 bronze?
Yes, both use pure SABIAN B20 Bronze alloy. The Artisan emphasizes hand-hammering and tonal individuality for ensemble work; the XSR emphasizes hammered construction with enhanced profiles and sonic matching for responsive live performance.
Which is better value for a beginner drummer?
The XSR5005GB offers much better value for a beginner or gigging drummer—you get four matched cymbals and a complete kit. The Artisan is a premium single cymbal for advanced players in specific musical contexts like orchestras or chamber ensembles, not a starter option.
