Frequently asked questions
Can I use the 707 in a standard 6-string guitar?
The 707 is designed as a soapbar for 7-string and extended-range instruments. A standard 6-string guitar typically requires a humbucker or single-coil route, not a 3.5-inch soapbar housing, so physical fitment would require routing modifications.
Can I use the 85X in a 7-string guitar?
The 85X is a full-size humbucker designed for standard guitar body formats. Most 7-string instruments use soapbar or single-coil routes; the 85X would not physically fit without extensive body modification.
How long does the battery last in each pickup?
Both the 707 and 85X are rated for approximately 3000 hours of playing time per 9V battery, which translates to roughly 1–2 years of regular use depending on playing frequency.
Which pickup has lower noise for high-gain recording?
The 85X explicitly specifies a -101 dB noise floor at 60 Hz. The 707's noise rejection is described qualitatively as part of its active-circuit design but no comparable dB specification is provided.
