Frequently asked questions
Are the actual tone and output specifications identical between Chrome and Gold?
Yes. Both feature 1.84 kHz resonant frequency, 3.00 V string output, 8.00 V strum output, -105 dBV noise floor, 2.00 kΩ output impedance, and 80 microamp current draw at 9V. The only difference is cosmetic finish.
Which is better for metal or progressive music?
The Gold version is explicitly marketed for metal and progressive, while Chrome is suited to studio, home recording, and live performance broadly. However, they produce identical tonal characteristics, so the Gold designation reflects branding rather than sonic difference.
Does the Gold version come with more accessories?
Yes. The Gold version includes solderless installation, an active tone pot (VLPF), 25k volume pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, and necessary cables. The Chrome description does not specify these inclusions, so confirm with your retailer.
Which finish should I choose if I care only about sound?
Sound quality is identical. Base your choice on which finish matches your instrument aesthetics and whether you need the extra installation components bundled with the Gold version.
