Frequently asked questions
Which pickup has more output and aggression?
The 60AX delivers 3.00 V string output and 8.00 V strum output with controlled dynamics. The HAX prioritizes clarity over raw output, making it better for pick definition than sheer volume or saturation.
Can either pickup work well for blues?
Both are marked as not ideal for blues. The HAX's bright single-coil character and the 60AX's controlled tone both lean modern rather than warm or soulful blues-friendly.
How do installation and battery life compare?
Both use EMG's Solderless Install System for easy setup. The 60AX is rated for approximately 2 years (3000 hours) of moderate playing on a 9V battery at 80 microamps draw, with no battery life specified for the HAX.
Which is better for extended-range guitars?
The HAX is explicitly designed for extended range and modern instruments. The 60AX long shaft suits deeper cavities but is marketed more for classic rock and metal versatility than extended range specifically.
