Frequently asked questions
Are the pickup specs actually the same between White and Ivory?
Yes. Both use Alnico 5 magnets, output 2.00V on single strings and 4.50V on full strums, run on a single 9V battery, feature the solderless Quik-Connect system, and include a 25k volume pot with active VLPF tone control. Dimensions and mounting are identical at 101.6 × 38.1 × 22.4 mm.
Who should buy an 8-string EMG 808X?
Metal, djent, progressive, and extended-range players at intermediate, advanced, or professional skill levels. It excels at high-output, articulate tones with extended low-end clarity and is not recommended for jazz, blues, or folk styles.
How long does the battery last?
The pickup draws only 80 microamps at 9V and delivers approximately 3000 hours of battery life, meaning extended sessions without frequency loss or noise.
Is installation difficult?
No. The solderless Quik-Connect system eliminates traditional wiring, and the pickup ships with a complete electronics kit including volume pot, tone control, battery bus, output socket, and all hardware.
