Frequently asked questions
Which guitar is better for standard tuning?
The Synyster Standard uses a traditional 25.5-inch scale and six-string configuration suited to standard and drop tunings. The Damien Platinum-8 is engineered specifically for eight strings and extended tunings; standard tuning on it would underutilize its design.
Can I do tremolo dive-bombs on both?
Only the Synyster Standard has a Floyd Rose Special Hot Rod locking tremolo for dive-bomb and pitch-shift effects. The Damien Platinum-8 uses a hardtail bridge with no tremolo system.
Which has better sustain?
The Damien Platinum-8's string-thru body construction and hardtail bridge are specifically designed to maximize sustain. The Synyster's Floyd Rose tremolo trades some sustain for tuning stability and effect capability.
What skill level do I need?
Both require intermediate to advanced playing ability. The Damien demands comfort with eight strings and extended range; the Synyster demands mastery of Floyd Rose locking tremolo technique for best results.
