Frequently asked questions
Which guitar is better for metal and djent?
The Sun Valley Super Shredder FR is purpose-built for metal with active EMG pickups, aggressive tone character, and a Floyd Rose tremolo designed for heavy riffing and whammy effects. The PT Special is not ideal for metal due to its passive pickups and warm, balanced voicing.
Which guitar is more comfortable for all-day playing?
The PT Special features an offset body design specifically engineered for ergonomic balance while sitting or standing, plus a satin finish that reduces hand fatigue. The Sun Valley prioritizes shredding speed and extended technique over comfort-focused ergonomics.
What's the main tonal difference?
The Sun Valley delivers aggressive, articulate, high-output tone with controlled midrange ideal for heavy gain contexts, powered by active electronics. The PT Special produces punchy, warm, balanced tone with vintage character suited to multiple genres, using passive pickups.
Why is the Sun Valley offered as B-Stock?
This Sun Valley unit has minor cosmetic wear—a small body ding—but remains fully functional and mechanically sound. The B-Stock status provides significant savings without affecting playability or tone.
