Frequently asked questions
Which guitar is better for left-handed players?
Only the Machine Gun Kelly PT Lefty is available in left-handed configuration. The Sun Valley Super Shredder FR-S is right-handed only, making the MGK PT the only choice for southpaw players.
Do either guitars have a tremolo system, and does it matter for my style?
The Super Shredder FR-S features a Floyd Rose Special tremolo for expressive pitch bending and dive bombs, ideal for progressive and shred styles. The Machine Gun Kelly PT has a fixed bridge (PT-H with string-thru body), making it more stable for straightforward rock and metal without tremolo effects.
How many frets does each guitar have, and what's the practical difference?
The Super Shredder FR-S has 24 X-Jumbo frets supporting fast alternate picking and sweep techniques. The Machine Gun Kelly PT has 22 X-Jumbo frets, sufficient for most lead work but slightly more limited access to the highest positions. Both use 25.5" scale and 14" radius fretboards.
Which pickup configuration is simpler and which is more versatile?
The Machine Gun Kelly PT uses a single Schecter USA Pasadena Plus pickup with a kill switch for straightforward, responsive tone-shaping. The Super Shredder FR-S pairs an EMG Retro Active Hot 70 bridge pickup with a Sustainiac neck pickup offering harmonic mode switching for extended sustain textures, providing greater tonal range but more complexity.
