Frequently asked questions
Which bass suits progressive music better?
Both are designed for progressive play. The Riot-5 excels if your progressive style requires lower five-string tunings; the MVP C-4 is ideal if you primarily work within four-string range and value maximum sustain and resonance.
What's the key construction difference?
The Riot-5 uses bolt-on construction (lighter, snappier attack), while the MVP C-4 uses neck-through construction (greater sustain and body resonance). The MVP C-4's carbon fiber reinforcement also adds structural stability.
How do the electronics compare?
Both feature active EMG electronics. The Riot-5 has a 3-band EQ with dual 40-series pickups (40PX-CS and 40JX-CS), while the MVP C-4 has a 2-band EQ with 35DC and 35CS pickups. The Riot-5 offers more tone-shaping control; the MVP C-4 delivers higher output and a more focused punch.
What is the B-Stock condition on the Riot-5?
The listing notes minimal cosmetic wear (light marks at the 10th fret) with full playability and sonic character intact. Pricing reflects this cosmetic discount while the bass functions as a new instrument.
