Frequently asked questions
What's the main difference in string count and scale design?
The Nick Johnston PT is a standard 6-string guitar with a fixed 25.5" scale optimized for traditional tunings. The Omen Elite-7 features seven strings and a multiscale design ranging from 25.5" to 27", which allows lower tunings to remain clear and articulate while maintaining playability across all frets.
Which guitar is better for metal and heavy music?
The Omen Elite-7 is purpose-built for metal, djent, and hard rock with dual high-output humbuckers, extended range, and tight sustain. The Nick Johnston PT is explicitly not ideal for metal and is designed around articulate single-coil tones better suited to indie and alternative genres.
How do the neck profiles and playability compare?
Both guitars feature thin "C" profiles with identical measurements at the first and 12th frets (.787" and .866" respectively), providing comfortable ergonomics for intermediate to advanced players. The Omen Elite-7's carbon-fiber reinforcement and 16" fretboard radius create a faster, more modern feel, while the Nick Johnston's roasted maple neck offers stability with a more traditional character.
What pickup types does each guitar use?
The Nick Johnston PT uses a Schecter Diamond Nick Johnston single-coil bridge pickup paired with a Schecter Diamond '78 neck single-coil for clarity and moderate output. The Omen Elite-7 uses dual Schecter Diamond Heretic humbuckers for aggressive articulation and higher output suitable for heavy genres.
