Description
Sound & Tone
The all-mahogany body and set-neck construction with a 24.75" scale give this single-cutaway a thick, resonant midrange and long sustain, with the shorter scale offering slinkier string tension under bends. The active EMG 81 in the bridge cuts with tight, articulate highs and controlled low end for high-gain leads and palm-muted riffing, while the EMG 60 in the neck stays clear and defined for rhythm parts and cleaner passages. It's aimed squarely at rock and metal players who want consistent, low-noise output, with an Earvana compensated nut tightening up intonation on the lower strings for heavier chord work.
ESP LTD EC-401 Olympic White Guitar B-Stock
The EC-401 sits right in the hand with a thin U-shaped neck and 24.75" scale that gives you fast, responsive playability—exactly what gigging musicians need when the stage demands precision and endurance. The Olympic White finish cuts through on stage, stays visually clean under lights, and avoids the fingerprint show-through that plagues darker finishes during long sets. B-stock here means cosmetic grading only—these unplayed instruments carry identical construction and tonal character to A-stock models, delivering serious value to players who refuse to sacrifice sound quality.
Construction & Hardware
Set-neck mahogany construction—solid mahogany body married to a mahogany neck—generates the resonance and sustain that professionals rely on night after night. Hardware is purpose-built: black nickel Grover tuners hold tuning stability through a full gig, TOM bridge and tailpiece anchor the instrument's tonal foundation, and the 42mm Earvana compensated nut corrects intonation across the fretboard, especially on the lower strings where standard nuts leave you fighting the physics.
Tone & Electronics
The EMG 81 bridge and EMG 60 neck active configuration cuts through a mix with articulate highs, punchy mids, and controlled lows—rock and metal staples that deliver live clarity. Active electronics maintain consistent output and kill noise floor issues, so your neck pickup stays articulate for rhythm work while the bridge locks in lead definition when you need it.

As a B-Stock instrument it carries a minor factory cosmetic blemish — a small finish mark with no effect on playability, tone or structure — which is why it sells for less than a first-quality unit. The exact blemish varies from unit to unit, so it is not described or pictured here; photos show the model, not the individual unit. It is new, unplayed and covered by the full manufacturer warranty.

What does B-stock mean?
B-stock means this guitar is fully functional with minor cosmetic imperfections on the finish. The playability, tone, structural integrity, and all hardware and electronics are identical to new A-stock models.
Is the EC-401 suitable for metal and hard rock?
Yes. The active EMG-81 bridge and EMG-60 neck pickups are voiced specifically for metal and hard rock, delivering articulate highs, punchy mids, and controlled lows with high output and low noise.
What is the neck like, and is it fast?
The EC-401 features a thin U-shaped neck contour with a 24.75" scale length and 24 XJ frets on a rosewood fingerboard. This design supports fast position work and comfortable reach, making it ideal for lead-focused and modern playing styles.

What genres is this guitar not ideal for?
The EC-401 is optimized for metal, hard rock, rock, and modern genres. It is not recommended for jazz, blues, or folk styles, which typically demand different tonal characteristics and playing dynamics.
