Description
SABIAN 16" AA Viennese Cymbals
These 16" AA Viennese hand cymbals deliver moderate sustain and clear articulation in a medium-weight package that balances responsiveness with durability. The pair excels across soft, march-like passages and general-purpose playing, blending seamlessly into a variety of musical contexts without demanding the space of heavier cymbals.
Tone & Response
The bright tone and fuller sound with moderate decay give you control and blend in any performance setting. Their clear articulation cuts through without excessive projection, ideal for situations where precision and musicality matter as much as presence—especially valuable in live work where you need cymbals that sit in the mix rather than dominate it.
Construction & Durability
B20 bronze construction paired with medium thickness and weight creates cymbals that respond readily to your touch while resisting premature wear. This balance of material quality and mass delivers both playability and road-tested longevity—essential for working drummers who need gear that holds up through regular gigging and rehearsal.

Frequently Asked Questions
What skill level are these cymbals designed for?
The AA Viennese hand cymbals suit beginner through professional players, though they're especially well-matched to intermediate and advanced musicians working in classical, concert band, worship, jazz, and general ensemble contexts. Their responsive medium weight and clear articulation make them forgiving for developing technique while offering enough sonic character for experienced players.
Are these cymbals suitable for metal or hard rock?
No, these cymbals are not designed for metal or hard rock. Their bright tone, moderate sustain, and medium weight are optimized for classical, concert band, and soft-to-medium-dynamic playing. Players seeking cymbals for heavy music should explore heavier-weight options designed for higher-impact playing.
What's included and what makes the AA Viennese different from other SABIAN hand cymbals?
You receive a pair of hand cymbals (16 inches, B20 bronze, medium weight). The AA Viennese is part of SABIAN's AA series and delivers a balance of bright tone and fuller sound with moderate sustain, making it more versatile and controlled than heavier concert-focused models while maintaining excellent articulation and blend in ensemble settings.
How durable are these cymbals with regular use?
The B20 bronze material and medium thickness are engineered for durability in regular rehearsal and performance use without premature cracking or wear. SABIAN backs these cymbals with a Two-Year Warranty, providing coverage against manufacturing defects during typical playing.
Do these hand cymbals work for both soft passages and louder ensemble playing?
Yes, the bright tone and moderate sustain with clear articulation allow these cymbals to cut through without excessive projection, making them adaptable to soft, march-like passages and general-purpose playing across a range of dynamics within classical, concert band, and mixed-repertoire contexts.
