Tone & Projection
The Tone Projection design generates simmering heat and musical dirt that carries with authority—this is a best-selling core model for its ability to get heard and felt. Pin-point lathing increases sensitivity for greater dynamic range, allowing the cymbal to respond across the full spectrum of strike intensity.
Construction & Feel
Crafted from B20 bronze (20% tin, 80% copper, and traces of silver), this cymbal is machine hammered with a thin weight that delivers a buttery soft feel. The high-profile shape combined with the Brilliant finish supports fast articulation and extended sustain.

Frequently Asked Questions
What skill level do I need to play this cymbal well?
The HHX Evolution is designed for intermediate to advanced and professional drummers. Its responsive B20 bronze construction and pin-point lathing reward controlled technique and dynamic sensitivity, making it less forgiving for beginners but highly rewarding for players with solid fundamentals.
What genres and styles is this crash best suited for?
This cymbal excels in rock, metal, funk, and hard rock, where its explosive response and cutting tone are assets. It is not recommended for jazz or folk settings, where subtler, mellower crashes typically fit the aesthetic better.
How does the Brilliant finish affect the sound compared to a Traditional finish?
The Brilliant finish brightens the cymbal's visual appearance and enhances its articulation and sustain, supporting fast response and a glassy attack. It pairs with HHX's dark, simmering tone to create a crash that cuts through without sounding harsh.
Will this crash be heard in a loud band mix?
Yes. The Sabian Tone Projection design and high-profile shape are engineered to project with authority at all volumes, ensuring the cymbal cuts through even dense mixes without sacrificing musicality or presence.
What is included, and is there a warranty?
The 16" crash cymbal is protected by Sabian's Two-Year Warranty. No hardware or stand is included; you will need a standard cymbal stand and boom arm to mount it.
