Description
SABIAN 22" Med Ride AAX Brilliant Finish
The 22" Med Ride AAX Brilliant snaps to attention under your stick with immediate responsiveness and articulation, cutting through the band without muddying the mix. Built in the slightly thinner weight class, this cymbal responds fast to your touch while retaining the rock-solid durability of B20 bronze. The highly polished brilliant finish throws a glassy, luminous shimmer that projects across any stage or session room.
Design & Construction
Forged from B20 bronze—the copper, tin, and silver alloy trusted by pros for generations—this ride's larger-rounder hammer peen shapes complex, controllable tones that lock in tight. The smaller, raw bell sits perfectly under the stick for crisp articulation and real crash capability, so you get a ride that's equally comfortable punctuating tight rhythmic passages or opening up into a full swell when the song demands it.
Tone & Character
The brilliant finish maximizes the natural brightness of B20, serving up a crisp, glassy shimmer with a fast decay that keeps notes from stacking up. The slightly thinner weight accelerates your response and tightens articulation, essential for players working in styles where every note needs to land clean and quick.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the AAX Brilliant finish different from standard Sabian rides?
The brilliant finish is a highly polished surface that amplifies the natural brightness of B20 bronze, producing a glassy, luminous shimmer with fast decay. This finish is designed to cut through in both studio and live settings with crisp, clear projection.
Is this ride suitable for heavy music or metal?
No, this ride is engineered for jazz, rock, and studio sessions where articulation and stick definition are priorities. Its thinner weight and fast decay make it less suited to heavy metal or thrash styles that demand darker, more sustained tones.
How does the medium weight affect playability?
The slightly thinner weight reduces overall mass for faster response and note clarity while maintaining the durability and tonal complexity of B20 bronze. This weight choice prioritizes quick articulation and controlled crash-ability over sustain, making it ideal for styles demanding fast note definition.
What is the bell like on this ride?
The smaller, raw bell provides excellent stick definition and controlled crash-ability. The larger-rounder hammer peen creates complex, refined tones that work together to deliver clear projection without overwhelming a mix.
How does this compare to other 22-inch medium rides?
The AAX Brilliant competes directly with the Zildjian K22 Medium Ride, Paiste 22 PST Medium Ride, and Meinl Byzance 22 Medium Ride. Its B20 bronze construction, polished brilliant finish, and slightly thinner weight position it as a crisp, articulate option for drummers prioritizing stick definition and fast response.
