What skill level is this cymbal designed for?

The Todd Sucherman Session Ride is engineered for intermediate, advanced, and professional drummers. It rewards precise technique and is best suited for studio sessions, live performance, and genres like jazz, rock, and progressive music rather than casual practice.

How does the higher bell pitch affect the overall sound?

The bell pitch is intentionally engineered to sit higher than the cymbal's tonic note, creating a distinctive sonic signature that prevents muddiness and frequency overlap while maintaining harmonic complexity. This design choice allows the ride to cut through dense arrangements without losing definition.

What makes the hand-hammering process important for this cymbal?

Each cymbal undergoes a three-stage hand-hammering and lathing process that creates multiple surface thickness variations, resulting in bold articulation, complex harmonic spread, and precise tonal character. This meticulous construction ensures consistency while honoring the hand-made tradition of premium cymbal manufacturing.

Is this cymbal suitable for both studio and live use?

Yes—the Todd Sucherman Session Ride is equally effective for recording detail and live performance projection. It combines studio precision with the dynamic range demanded by professional live performance, delivering versatility across both environments.

What weight range should I expect?

Weight ranges from 3145 to 3268 grams with a median of 3192g, providing controlled mass that enables articulate stick response while maintaining the capability for explosive crashes.

Tone & Sonic Character

The bell pitch is engineered to sit higher than the cymbal's tonic note, creating a distinctive sonic signature that prevents muddiness while maintaining harmonic complexity. Expect a pleasant splash on the slap, aggressive stick response for ride patterns, and a massive, defined crash—versatility that defines the Sessions concept.

Construction & Design

Built from B20 bronze and individually hand-numbered and signed by Todd Sucherman, each cymbal undergoes rigorous hand-crafting: hammered, lathed to create precise thickness variations, then hammered again to lock in the final character. This meticulous three-step process ensures consistency while honoring the hand-made tradition of premium cymbal manufacturing.
