Schecter J-4 & J-5 Basses for Players

Plenty of bass players want a J-style instrument that sits comfortably on a strap through a long set, and Schecter's J-series delivers that offset-body shape. Dual single-coils give the kind of punch and definition that cuts through a stage mix without a lot of fuss. LV Guitars stocks the family for working bassists and collectors alike.

The J-4 Standard is the straightforward gigging choice, with Sea Foam Green for a vintage-flavored look and Gloss Black for a low-profile stage presence. Need the extra low string? The J-5 adds it while keeping the same J-style layout. The J-4 Exotic brings a figured top, a good pick for players who like their bass to stand out, and the Diamond-J Plus rounds out the family.

Left-handed players are covered too, with J-4 LH versions so lefties don't have to compromise. With pricing from about $999 to $1,299, these basses suit players moving up to a serious instrument as well as collectors adding a distinctive J-style to the rack.

Schecter J-4 & J-5 Bass Guitars - frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Schecter J-4 and J-5 bass?

The J-4 is a four-string bass with the familiar feel many players know, while the J-5 adds an extra low string. Both use a J-style offset body with dual single-coil pickups, so the punchy, articulate voice is shared. The choice mostly comes down to string count and finish.

What does the Schecter J-4 Exotic offer over the standard J-4?

The J-4 Exotic is the more eye-catching option, adding a figured top in finishes like Faded Vintage Sunburst. It keeps the same J-style offset body and dual single-coil layout as the Standards, which come in cleaner, classic finishes such as Sea Foam Green and Gloss Black.

Does the Schecter J-series come in left-handed versions?

Schecter makes left-handed J-4 LH versions for southpaw players within the J-series family. Availability changes, so check the listings on this page for what is currently offered. Every instrument is set up and professionally packed, and orders ship free within the US with 30-day returns.
