Description
EMG 58 Active Humbucker Pickup in Chrome
The EMG 58 is a high-output active humbucker that cuts through live mixes with articulate, punchy midrange and tight low-end definition. This chrome-finished unit delivers the clarity and sustain that modern rock and metal players depend on, backed by EMG's proven active circuit and solderless installation system that gets you stage-ready without a soldering iron.
Tone & Electronics
Built on an Alnico magnet with steel bars, the 58 generates 4.50 V output on full strum and 3.00 V on single string, punching through a dense mix with minimal effort. The 1.70 kHz resonant frequency emphasizes upper midrange definition while the -100 dBV output noise floor ensures clean, hiss-free operation even at high gains—critical for gigging musicians relying on consistent tone night to night.
Installation & Power
The included solderless installation system features integrated volume and tone potentiometers, battery bus, output jack, mounting hardware, and cables—get wired and playing without soldering. A single 9V battery delivers up to 3000 hours of continuous operation, with maximum tolerance up to 27V DC, while the circuit draws only 80 µA @ 9V for exceptional efficiency and reliability on the road.

Does this pickup require soldering to install?
No. The EMG 58 includes a solderless installation system with integrated volume and tone potentiometers, battery bus, output jack, mounting hardware, and cables, so you can install it without any soldering.
How long does the battery last?
A single 9V battery provides up to 3000 hours of continuous operation. The circuit draws only 80 µA at 9V, making battery life very efficient for typical gigging and studio use.
What is the output level compared to other high-output pickups?
The EMG 58 generates 4.50 V on a full strum and 3.00 V on a single string, placing it in the high-output category alongside models like the Seymour Duncan JB and DiMarzio Super Distortion. Its -100 dBV noise floor ensures clean operation even at high gains.
