What comes in the box with the 58X?

The package includes the pickup itself, a 25k volume potentiometer, an active tone potentiometer with VLPF, battery bus, stereo output jack, pickup in/out bus, mounting screws, springs, cables, and everything needed for complete solderless installation.

Do I need to solder to install this pickup?

No. The EMG 58X uses a solderless installation system, so you can swap it in without a soldering iron—ideal for quick retrofits and eliminating installation risk.

How does the 58X compare to other active humbuckers like the EMG 81/85?

The 58X delivers a fatter, rounder, and warmer tone than the darker 81/85 pairing, with the same noiseless active design but tuned for classic humbucker character and dynamic response across rock, metal, and fusion applications.

What is the VLPF tone control and how do I use it?

VLPF (Variable Low-Pass Filter) is an onboard active tone control that lets you attenuate high frequencies with precision—roll it back for aggression and thickness, or leave it open for clarity and articulation.

Is the 58X suitable for jazz or blues?

The 58X is optimized for rock, metal, and fusion where its authoritative output and fat tone shine; it is not recommended for jazz, folk, or country playing styles.
