Description
EMG 60-7H 7-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Chrome
The EMG 60-7H brings the balanced, articulate character of the classic 60 voicing to 7-string extended-range setups. This active humbucker locks in tight low-end definition with clear midrange and controlled high-end presence—essential for both heavy riffing and dynamic picking work on stage. The brushed chrome finish complements modern instrument designs while active circuitry delivers consistent output and minimal noise, ensuring reliability through demanding live sets and studio sessions.
Electronics & Construction
Built around ceramic magnets and close-aperture coils, this active humbucker configuration isolates individual string vibrations with precision and suppresses electromagnetic noise under high-gain conditions. The active pickup type operates on battery power and rewards users with lower impedance, higher signal stability, and the headroom to drive amplifiers cleanly across wide dynamic ranges without sacrificing definition or tonal clarity.
Included Components & Installation
This pickup arrives complete with a Quik-Connect cable, prewired split shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, mounting screws, and springs—a full retrofit package ready to drop into a new build or existing instrument. The included wiring harness eliminates installation ambiguity and establishes a clean signal path immediately, reducing downtime between conception and first gig.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in the box?
The EMG 60-7H ships with a Quik-Connect cable, prewired split shaft volume/tone control set, output jack, battery clip set, mounting screws, and springs. This complete wiring ecosystem is ready for immediate installation in a new build or retrofit.
Does this pickup require a battery, and how does that affect operation?
Yes, active circuitry requires battery power, which provides lower impedance, higher signal stability, and quieter operation compared to passive pickups. The battery clip set is included, and active operation lets you drive amplifiers cleanly across wide dynamic ranges without loss of definition.
What tunings and playing styles is this pickup designed for?
The EMG 60-7H is purpose-built for metal, progressive, and extended-range playing in drop tunings. Its tight low-end, articulate midrange, and controlled high-end work equally well for heavy riffing and precision picking, though it is not voiced for jazz or folk applications.
How does the EMG 60-7H compare to other 7-string active pickups?
The EMG 60-7H offers the balanced, articulate voicing of the classic 60 design adapted for 7-string duty. Comparable alternatives include the Seymour Duncan Distortion 7-String, Fishman Fluence Modern 7-String, and DiMarzio D-Activator 7-String, each with different tonal characteristics and feature sets.
What skill level do I need to install this pickup?
The included prewired control set and Quik-Connect cable simplify installation for intermediate and advanced players familiar with pickup swaps. Professional installers will appreciate the complete wiring harness that eliminates guesswork during setup.
