Is the EMG 60X suitable for jazz or blues?

No—the EMG 60X is optimized for metal, hard rock, and high-gain progressive work where note separation and controlled articulation matter most. Its tight, punchy character and focused midrange are not designed to deliver the warm, responsive voicing blues and jazz players typically need.

What's included in the box, and do I need to solder?

The EMG 60X ships with the pickup, solderless installation system, split shaft volume/active tone control, output jack, battery clip set, screws, and springs—no soldering required. A single 9V battery powers the active electronics and connects via the provided clip assembly.

How does the EMG 60X handle high-gain and overdriven channels?

The 60X is purpose-built for high-gain: its 8.00V strum output and -107 dB noise floor deliver headroom and clarity through saturated channels, while the 2K ohm DC resistance maintains tight, controlled response so individual notes stay articulate even under extreme gain.

Will this pickup fit my guitar, and what guitars is it designed for?

The EMG 60X is a covered humbucker compatible with standard 6-string guitars using a humbucker routing. Confirm your guitar has standard humbucker dimensions before purchase; EMG's solderless system simplifies installation on most guitars with existing electronics cavities.

How does the EMG 60X compare to other high-gain active pickups?

The EMG 60X competes directly with models like the Seymour Duncan JB Jr., DiMarzio Dominion, and Fishman Fluence Modern. The 60X distinguishes itself with its low noise floor (-107 dB), tight 2K ohm resistance, and EMG's signature solderless installation—ideal for players prioritizing plug-and-play retrofit and consistent, hum-free tracking.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.

EMG 60X Active Humbucker Pickup in Chrome

The EMG 60X delivers the signature clarity and articulation of EMG's active humbucker design with a ceramic magnet core optimized for defined midrange and controlled output. This covered pickup excels in high-gain applications where note separation and dynamic response are critical, making it a reliable choice for players seeking consistent performance across aggressive playing styles.

Tone & Electronics

Close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets generate a focused, punchy tone with 3.00V output on single notes and 8.00V strum output, providing headroom and clarity through overdriven channels. The 2.28 kHz resonant frequency and -107 dB noise floor ensure low hum rejection and articulate response in demanding signal chains, while the 2K DC resistance maintains the tight, controlled character typical of active EMG designs.

Installation & Compatibility

The solderless install system with integrated split shaft volume/active tone control set eliminates traditional wiring complexity, making retrofit straightforward on 6-string guitars. All necessary hardware—output jack, battery clip set, screws, and springs—ships included; operation requires one 9V battery, which connects via the provided clip assembly.
