What skill level is this pickup for?

The EMG 60X suits beginner through professional players. Its solderless Quik-Connect system makes installation straightforward for newer players, while its precision and low-noise performance appeal to experienced musicians in studio and live contexts.

How long will the 9V battery last?

The 60X delivers approximately 3000 hours of battery life on a single 9V battery, with minimal current draw of 80 microamps. This translates to roughly 125 days of continuous use before battery replacement.

Will this pickup work in genres other than metal and hard rock?

The 60X is voiced specifically for modern high-gain and hard rock applications and is not ideally suited for traditional jazz or folk music. Its articulate midrange and controlled output are optimized for clarity in dense, aggressive mixes.

Do I need to solder this pickup to install it?

No. The EMG 60X includes the solderless Quik-Connect system with a split shaft volume and active tone control set, eliminating the need for any soldering during installation or future adjustments.

How does the 60X compare to other active humbuckers?

The EMG 60X emphasizes vocal clarity and controlled dynamics compared to the hotter EMG 81/85, sitting closer in character to Seymour Duncan Blackouts and DiMarzio Crunch Lab pickups. Its 8V strum output provides punch without excessive compression, making it versatile across modern rock and metal styles.

EMG 60X Active Humbucker Pickup in Ivory

The EMG 60X delivers articulate, controlled output with the responsiveness that defines modern active pickup design. This ceramic humbucker balances clarity across the frequency spectrum with enough punch to cut through dense mixes on stage, making it a workhorse choice for players demanding precision over coloration.

Tone & Electronics

A resonant frequency of 2.28 kHz positions this pickup in the vocal midrange, ideal for definition without harshness. The 8.00 V output on strum and 3.00 V per-string output ensure dynamics translate cleanly through your signal chain, while 2.00 Kohm output impedance keeps signal integrity intact through long cable runs or effects chains.

Power & Installation

Running on a single 9V battery with an exceptional 3000-hour battery life and 80 microamps current draw, the 60X minimizes power demands and keeps you playing without frequent battery swaps. The included solderless Quik-Connect system with split shaft volume and active tone control eliminates traditional soldering, streamlining both installation and future adjustments on the road.
