EMG 60X Active Humbucker Pickup in White
The EMG 60X is a high-output active humbucker built for players who need articulate, noise-free performance in neck or bridge positions. Its ceramic magnet structure and integrated preamp deliver tight, defined tones without the hum that plagues passive designs, making it a dependable choice for touring musicians, session work, and live gigs across rock, metal, and alternative genres.
Tone & Electronics
Built-in high-output, low-noise preamp circuitry ensures clean signal transmission with minimal interference, while the 2.28 KHz resonant frequency provides a balanced midrange character suited to both lead and rhythm work. The 2.0 Kohm output impedance maintains signal integrity through long cable runs and numerous pedals.
Installation & Specifications
The solderless install system eliminates traditional wiring complexity—output and battery connections use quick connectors, while the included split-shaft volume and active tone control set integrate seamlessly into most guitar cavities. Battery life spans approximately 3000 hours of typical playing, and a single 9V battery (not included) powers the preamp.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included and do I need a battery?
The EMG 60X includes the pickup, solderless connectors, split-shaft volume and active tone control set, and installation hardware. You'll need to supply one 9V battery (not included); typical battery life is around 3000 hours of playing.
Is this pickup suited to jazz or blues?
No—the EMG 60X is engineered for rock, metal, hard rock, and alternative genres. Its high-output, tight midrange character and noise-rejection design don't align well with the dynamic, organic tones expected in jazz and blues playing.
How difficult is installation?
Very straightforward. The solderless system uses quick connectors for output and battery, eliminating traditional soldering. It fits most guitar cavities with standard screw spacing of 3.09 inches (78.5mm).
Can I use this in both neck and bridge positions?
Yes—the EMG 60X is designed for either position. Its balanced, articulate tone works well for both lead and rhythm work.
How does this compare to the EMG 81?
The 60X delivers a more balanced, articulate midrange and is suited to neck or bridge play, while the 81 is higher-output and bridge-focused for maximum aggression. Both are active, noise-free, and built for rock and metal.
