What is the string spacing tolerance of the 707TW?

The 707TW supports a maximum string spacing of 63.5 mm (2.5") with precise pole-piece alignment across all seven strings, ensuring no magnetic dead zones even on modern wide extended-range guitars.

How long does the battery last between charges?

The 9V battery delivers 3000+ hours of playing time per charge, eliminating the need for frequent battery swaps during touring or heavy session work.

Do I need soldering skills to install this pickup?

No—the 707TW includes a solderless installation system with all wiring, pots, battery connector, and switching components pre-assembled, so installation requires only basic hand tools.

Can I switch between humbucker and single-coil modes?

Yes, the dual-mode switching architecture uses a push/pull pot to toggle between thick humbucker punch (1.8 kHz resonance) and articulate single-coil definition (3.76 kHz resonance) from the same pickup.

What genres and tuning styles is the 707TW best suited for?

The 707TW is engineered for metal, progressive rock, and extended-range tunings, including heavy drop tunings, where high output and extended-range clarity are priorities. It is not optimized for jazz, blues, or folk applications.

EMG 707TW Long Shaft 7-String Active Soapbar Pickup in Black

The EMG 707TW is a versatile active humbucker engineered for 7-string instruments where extended string spacing and tonal flexibility are non-negotiable. Its long soapbar housing accommodates the wider pickup bed of modern extended-range guitars, while the dual-mode switching architecture delivers both thick humbucker punch and articulate single-coil definition from a single unit.

Design & Specifications

Built to exacting tolerances, the 707TW features a 3.5" long soapbar housing with Alnico V magnets and a DC resistance of 10 kΩ, yielding a resonant frequency of 1.8 kHz in humbucker mode and 3.76 kHz in single-coil mode. The maximum string spacing of 63.5 mm (2.5") ensures clean pole piece alignment across all seven strings without magnetic dead zones.

Electronics & Installation

This active design runs on a 9V battery with an exceptional 3000+ hours of playing time per charge, eliminating the mid-set power anxiety common to active systems. Installation is streamlined via the solderless system with included 25k push/pull pot, 25k tone pot, stereo output jack, battery connector, and wires—no soldering iron required.
