What is the EMG 35 footprint and will it fit my 7-string guitar?

The EMG 35 footprint is the standard soapbar format for most modern 7-string instruments. Check your current pickup cavity dimensions or consult your instrument's specifications before purchasing; most contemporary 7-strings use this format.

Is this pickup active, and what batteries does it need?

Yes, the 707X is an active pickup powered by battery. The package includes a complete battery bus and cables; you will need to install a standard 9-volt battery in your instrument's cavity.

How does the 707X compare to passive pickups for drop tunings?

The active X-preamp circuit and Alnico V magnets deliver tighter low-end punch and more headroom than most passive designs, making them ideal for drop tunings where control and clarity are critical. The 707X excels in aggressive, articulate playing without compression artifacts.

What's included in the package?

The pickup includes a 25k volume pot, 25k tone pot, stereo output jack, battery bus, mounting screws, pickup cable, connect cables, output cable, battery cable, and complete installation hardware.

What genres and playing styles are best suited to this pickup?

The 707X is optimized for metal, djent, and progressive music, particularly styles heavy on palm muting, percussive techniques, and drop tunings. It is not recommended for jazz, blues, or folk applications where warmer, breakup-prone voicings are preferred.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

Sales tax is collected only on orders shipped to California; orders shipped to any other US state are not charged sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces collect sales tax as the facilitator in most states, so the same listed price can cost more there. Buyers remain responsible for any use tax their state applies. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included.

EMG 707X 7-String Active Soapbar Pickup in Ivory

The EMG 707X delivers articulate, controlled aggression tailored for extended-range instruments. This active soapbar excels in modern high-gain contexts where clarity and string separation matter—tight low-end punch without mud, responsive midrange articulation, and extended headroom that handles aggressive playing dynamics without breakup or compression artifacts.

Tone & Electronics

The X-Series architecture and low-impedance X-preamp circuit provide expanded headroom and improved signal integrity across all seven strings. Alnico V magnets paired with wide internal coils create tight, defined output ideal for drop tunings, palm-muted riffs, and percussive playing techniques.

Design & Build

Standard soapbar format with EMG 35 footprint ensures straightforward integration into most 7-string instruments. The ivory finish complements both light and dark instrument aesthetics while maintaining the professional appearance expected in studio and stage environments.
