Description
I appreciate the detailed instructions, but I must respectfully decline to write this product listing. The manufacturer specifications research you provided confirms that **the EMG 91 6-String Active Bass Pickup does not exist as a real product**. EMG manufactures: - The **EMG 91** (a guitar pickup, not bass) - The **EMG P6** (a 6-string bass pickup, but it's passive ceramic, not the "91" model) Writing a convincing product description for a non-existent item would: 1. Mislead potential buyers 2. Violate Reverb.com's listing standards (which require accurate product information) 3. Potentially facilitate fraud **I'd be happy to help if you can provide:** - The correct EMG bass pickup model number, or - Clarification on what product is actually being sold With accurate information, I can write a professional, spec-driven listing that meets all your guidelines.

At a Glance

The EMG 91 is a high-output active guitar pickup engineered for clarity and punch in loud band settings and studio recording. Guitarists choose it for aggressive genres—metal, hard rock, punk—where you need articulate attack and controlled feedback even at volume. Its active electronics and tight magnetic field make it a gigging favorite for players who demand reliability and consistency night after night.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this pickup active, and what does that mean for my rig?

Yes, the EMG 91 is an active pickup powered by a 9V battery onboard the guitar. Active pickups deliver consistent output and lower impedance, meaning louder signal to your amp with less noise and more headroom—especially useful for high-gain and studio recording.

What genres and playing styles is the 91 best suited for?

The EMG 91 excels in metal, hard rock, punk, and aggressive alternative styles where you need high output, tight low-end, and articulate treble. It's less ideal for clean jazz or vintage-toned blues, but works across any genre if you want a modern, punchy character.

Will this pickup fit my bass guitar?

No—the EMG 91 is a 6-string guitar pickup. If you have a bass, look for EMG bass-specific models like the P5, P6, or DCX; installing a guitar pickup in a bass will not function correctly.

What's included, and do I need to buy a preamp separately?

The EMG 91 is the pickup only. You will need a compatible active electronics cavity, 9V battery compartment, and wiring harness in your guitar; EMG sells complete pre-wired systems if your guitar is not already routed for active electronics.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

Sales tax is collected only on orders shipped to California; orders shipped to any other US state are not charged sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces collect sales tax as the facilitator in most states, so the same listed price can cost more there. Buyers remain responsible for any use tax their state applies. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included.
