What position is this pickup designed for?

The EMG FTX is designed as a neck pickup. It integrates into dual-pickup configurations or complete pickup system upgrades using standard single-coil form factor and EMG-standard mounting.

Does active circuitry really eliminate hum?

Yes. The active topology eliminates 60-cycle hum and reduces susceptibility to cable capacitance, providing hum-free operation across all playing dynamics and amp settings—a key advantage for high-gain environments.

What tone character should I expect?

You get articulate, punchy single-coil responsiveness with upper-midrange clarity and tight string definition. The active voicing emphasizes snap and note separation while maintaining the consistency of powered electronics, making it well-suited for modern and high-gain playing.

Is this pickup suitable for jazz or vintage tones?

The FTX is voiced for articulate, high-output modern playing rather than warm, vintage single-coil character, so it may not be the best fit for traditional jazz applications or players pursuing classic tone.

What skill level should I have to install this?

The FTX is compatible with intermediate, advanced, and professional players. Installation and setup is straightforward for anyone comfortable with standard pickup replacement; consult your guitar's wiring diagram or a technician if you need guidance.

EMG FTX Active Single Coil Pickup in Red

The EMG FTX delivers articulate, punchy single-coil character with the noise rejection and output consistency of active electronics. This neck-position pickup pairs tight string definition with natural harmonic clarity, making it essential for players seeking traditional single-coil responsiveness without hum or signal degradation in high-gain live rigs or studio tracking.

Tone & Electronics

Active circuitry provides consistent output and eliminates 60-cycle hum across all playing dynamics and amp settings—critical for stage reliability and recorded clarity. The pickup's voiced response emphasizes upper-midrange clarity and articulation, delivering the snap and note separation that single-coil players expect while maintaining the dependability of powered electronics through a full gig or tour.

Design & Construction

The red cosmetic finish sets this unit apart visually while the active topology ensures stable impedance and reduced susceptibility to cable capacitance. Designed as a neck pickup, the FTX integrates seamlessly into dual-pickup configurations or as part of complete pickup system upgrades, with straightforward installation and EMG-standard compatibility across most guitar platforms.
