Does this pickup come with everything I need to install it?

Yes. The EMG H ships with a complete control set (volume and tone), output jack, battery clip assembly, mounting hardware, screws, and springs. You'll also get the solderless Quik-Connect cable system, so no soldering iron is required.

How does the EMG H stay quiet in noisy electrical environments?

It uses active circuitry with zero hum and zero feedback, eliminating the electromagnetic noise that passive single-coils pick up. The ceramic magnet design preserves single-coil bite while the active amplification stage keeps output consistent and clean across your playing dynamics.

Is this a true single-coil tone, or does it sound like a humbucker?

It delivers genuine single-coil character—articulate bite, clear definition, and presence—but housed in a compact humbucker form factor. This means single-coil tonality without the size constraint or noise issues of traditional single-coil pickups.

What skill level do I need to install this pickup?

The solderless Quik-Connect system makes installation accessible to beginners and retrofitters alike. No soldering skills are required, and all necessary hardware and connectors are included for a straightforward drop-in swap.

What genres and playing styles suit this pickup?

It works well for home recording, studio sessions, gigging, and extended-range playing where clarity and hum-free operation matter. It's not designed for traditional jazz or vintage-tone purist applications that favor warmer, more passive characters.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.

EMG H Active Single Coil Pickup in Black Chrome

The EMG H delivers the articulate, cutting tone of a single-coil pickup in a humbucker-sized package, engineered for players who need clarity and definition without hum and noise pollution. This active pickup combines EMG's noiseless technology with straightforward installation, making it a reliable choice for both retrofit projects and new builds—especially useful for touring rigs where electromagnetic interference can kill your tone on stage.

Active Electronics & Noise Performance

Built on active circuitry, the EMG H operates with zero hum and zero feedback—a decisive advantage over passive single-coil designs when you're on a noisy stage or in an electrically compromised venue. The ceramic magnet structure produces the signature single-coil snap and articulation while the active amplification stage maintains consistent output across your full dynamic range, from clean fingerpicking to hard dig.

Installation & Included Hardware

Solderless Quik-Connect™ wiring eliminates the need for a soldering iron, streamlining both initial installation and future swaps—valuable when you're on the road or want to experiment with different tones without downtime. The pickup ships complete with a volume and tone control set, output jack, battery clip assembly, and mounting hardware—everything required for a complete drop-in retrofit.
