Do I need to route my guitar to install this pickup?

No. The EMG H uses a single-coil design housed in a humbucker footprint, so it drops directly into any humbucker cavity with no routing required.

What comes included with the pickup?

The package includes the pickup, Quik-Connect cable, split shaft volume and tone control set, output jack assembly, battery clip set, and mounting screws and springs—everything needed for a complete installation.

Is the active circuitry reliable for live gigging and touring?

Yes. The integrated active electronics deliver consistent output and noise rejection across different amplifiers and cable runs, making it dependable for touring venues and long cable runs. The battery system is straightforward to maintain.

What genres and playing styles does this pickup work best for?

The EMG H excels in rock, metal, and hard rock, and performs well in studio sessions and home recording. Its bright midrange and articulation are optimized for these styles; it is not recommended for jazz or blues applications.

How does the EMG H compare to the EMG 81?

The EMG 81 is a dual-magnet design with more aggressive output and darker tone. The EMG H offers a brighter, more articulate single-coil character with defined midrange, providing a different voice within the EMG active lineup.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

Sales tax is collected only on orders shipped to California; orders shipped to any other US state are not charged sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces collect sales tax as the facilitator in most states, so the same listed price can cost more there. Buyers remain responsible for any use tax their state applies. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included.
