What's the difference between this and a regular single-coil pickup?

The EMG HA houses a single-coil design inside a humbucking housing, so you get the bright, articulate character of a single coil while eliminating electromagnetic hum—a problem traditional single coils suffer in live and studio settings. Active electronics powered by a 9V battery boost output and headroom beyond passive designs.

Do I need to solder this pickup into my guitar?

No. The EMG HA uses a solderless installation system with connectors that snap into place, making setup fast and straightforward. A split shaft volume/tone control set is included to complete the installation.

What genres and playing styles is this pickup best for?

The EMG HA excels in rock, fusion, and studio sessions where clarity and punch are priorities. It is not well suited to blues or jazz, where warm, thick single-coil character is typically preferred.

How long does the 9V battery last?

The description does not specify battery life. Typical active pickup batteries last months to a year depending on how often the instrument is played; consult EMG's documentation or customer support for precise longevity on this model.

What warranty does this pickup include?

The EMG HA includes a two-year manufacturer warranty protecting against defects.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.
