What's included in this pickup set, and is it ready to install?

This is a fully prewired set that arrives complete with two volume controls, a master tone control, output jack, battery clip, and two EMG Quik-Connect cables—it's ready to drop into a compatible 5-string bass cavity. No additional wiring or soldering needed.

Which bass styles and genres is this pickup set best suited for?

The P5J excels in funk, modern rock, and studio sessions where punchy articulation and a defined mid presence are essential. Its high output and balanced string response make it less ideal for traditional jazz or acoustic folk applications.

What output level and dynamic range should I expect?

Output voltage reaches 2.00V in finger position, 1.00V in thumb mode, and 4.50V in thump mode, giving you substantial headroom and dynamic range for both aggressive slapping and nuanced fingerstyle playing.

Will this pickup set fit my 5-string bass?

This set is engineered for standard 5-string bass cavities with compatible dimensions—the bridge pickup is 3.75 inches in length with a 2.75 inch max string width. Verify your bass cavity matches these specs before ordering.

How does the split-coil neck and single-coil bridge design affect tone?

The P5 split-coil at the neck (3.20 kHz resonance) and LJ single-coil at the bridge (3.95 kHz resonance) work together to deliver balanced string-to-string response without dead spots, shaping a tone with controlled lows and defined mids that cuts through a mix.
