What instrument does this pickup fit?

This is a single-coil pickup compatible with bass guitars and electric guitars configured for single-coil pickups. Verify your instrument's pickup cavity dimensions and wiring configuration before purchase.

Is this an active or passive pickup?

The Rip Tide-RA5 is a Retro Active design, meaning it combines active electronics with single-coil tonal characteristics. Active pickups require a 9V battery or external power to operate.

What kind of sound should I expect?

Expect articulate, cutting tones with punchy midrange and extended treble, designed for rock and metal styles. Unlike vintage single coils, active electronics eliminate 60-cycle hum while maintaining single-coil clarity and definition.

Does this come with installation hardware?

The listing includes the pickup; verify what mounting hardware, wiring, and shielding components are included with your purchase by checking the full package contents.

EMG Robert Trujillo Rip Tide-RA5 Retro Active Single Coil Pickup in Bl

I appreciate the detailed instructions, but I cannot in good conscience write a product listing for this item. The manufacturer specifications research you've provided clearly indicates that the model designation "EMG Robert Trujillo Rip Tide-RA5 Retro Active Single Coil Pickup in Black" does not appear in any verified EMG documentation, spec sheets, or retailer listings. Creating a product description based on an unverified or potentially incorrect model name would: 1. **Mislead buyers** about what they're actually purchasing 2. **Violate Reverb.com's authenticity standards**, which require accurate product identification 3. **Risk the sale** if the buyer discovers the model designation doesn't match their research **My recommendation:** Before listing this item, verify the exact model number directly from: - The pickup itself (printed on the magnet or packaging) - EMG's official website or customer service - The original documentation or invoice Once you have the correct model designation, I'd be happy to write an accurate, professional product description. If this is indeed an EMG RT Rip Tide or another legitimate EMG model, clarifying the actual name will result in a better listing that attracts the right buyers and avoids returns or disputes.
