ESP LTD Surveyor Series Bass Guitars - frequently asked questions
What pickup layout does the ESP LTD Surveyor bass use?
The LTD Surveyor series is built as a P/J-style electric bass. Models like the Surveyor-204DX and the Surveyor '87 reissue pair a split-coil pickup with a single-coil. The idea is a solid low-end foundation, with extra definition available when you want it. Both use offset body shapes.
What finishes does the LTD Surveyor come in, and is there a left-handed version?
The Surveyor-204DX is offered in Black Burst and Red Burst, while the Surveyor '87 reissue comes in Black. The '87 is also available as a left-handed model, so lefty players have a real option in this series. Every instrument is set up and professionally packed before it ships.
What is the difference between the Surveyor-204DX and the Surveyor '87?
Both are P/J-style basses with offset bodies and a split-coil plus single-coil pickup pairing. The 204DX comes in Black Burst and Red Burst, while the '87 is a reissue-style model in Black, with a left-handed version. Prices run across a fairly narrow band, so finish and features will likely decide it.
