Is this a complete hi-hat pair or just the top cymbal?

This is the top cymbal only (catalog ID 41403X). You will need a matching bottom cymbal to complete a hi-hat pair.

What makes this cymbal good for rock and metal but not jazz or blues?

The B8X Rock Hat Top is medium-heavy with crisp attack, tight articulation, and minimal wash—designed for fast, articulate chopping and cutting through loud mixes. Jazz and blues players typically favor lighter cymbals with more sustain and spread for swing and expression.

How does this compare to other budget hi-hats like Zildjian ZBT or Paiste PST?

The SABIAN B8X Rock Hat Top competes directly with the Zildjian ZBT and Paiste PST at the budget tier, all offering bronze alloy construction and rock-focused sound profiles. Tone and feel differences are minor; choice often comes down to personal preference and what your kit's other cymbals are.

Will this cymbal handle aggressive playing and fast footwork?

Yes. The medium-heavy weight and precision-formed construction are designed for durable, punchy articulation through fast chops and rapid hi-hat work without cracking or losing definition.
