Sound & Tone
The mahogany body and set mahogany neck give this 8-string a thick, midrange-focused foundation, while the ebony fretboard and 25.5"–27.5" multiscale layout keep the low strings taut and articulate rather than loose or muddy. The single Fishman Fluence Open Core Modern-8 with its 3-way voicing toggle covers tight, percussive low-string rhythm work and cutting lead tones with plenty of note separation, and the fixed Hipshot bridge adds sustain and tuning consistency under heavy picking. It's aimed squarely at left-handed players working in modern and technical metal, djent, and extended-range progressive styles.
Schecter PT-8 Multiscale Black Ops Lefty Guitar
The PT-8 Multiscale Black Ops is a left-handed 8-string built for extreme performance and uncompromising tone. Its stealthy Satin Black Open Pore finish and ergonomic multiscale construction deliver precision and power in a format designed for modern metal and technical players seeking tight low-end clarity without compromise.
Playability & Construction
A 3-piece mahogany neck reinforced with carbon fiber rods ensures rock-solid stability across demanding playing. The ebony fretboard with 24 X-Jumbo stainless steel frets and a 20" radius provides an ultra-smooth, fast playing surface, while Luminlay side dots keep you oriented on dark stages. The multiscale design spanning 25.5" to 27.5" optimizes string tension and ergonomic comfort across all registers.
Tone & Electronics
A single Fishman Fluence Open Core Modern-8 pickup paired with a 3-way voicing toggle delivers a stunning array of aggressive tones—from tight chugs to searing leads with clarity and definition. The Hipshot 8-string multiscale fixed bridge, Schecter locking tuners, and GraphTech Tusq XL nut ensure rock-solid tuning stability under any playing intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the multiscale design (25.5"–27.5") beneficial for an 8-string?
Multiscale construction maintains consistent string tension and intonation across all eight strings by scaling each string length proportionally. This delivers tight, clear definition in the low strings without excess floppiness, critical for aggressive metal and djent where note clarity and tuning stability matter most.
Is this guitar suitable for left-handed players, and what's included?
Yes—this is a true left-handed 8-string with the bridge, tuners, and pickup orientation designed for lefty play. It ships factory-strung with Ernie Ball 8 EX (.009–.080) strings, so you can plug in and start playing immediately.
What genres and playing styles is the PT-8 Black Ops built for?
The PT-8 excels in metal, djent, progressive, and any style demanding drop tunings and extended range. Its tight low end and aggressive voicing suit modern metal and technical music; it is not optimized for jazz, blues, or country playing.
How does the Fishman Fluence Modern-8 pickup handle different tonal needs?
The Fishman includes a 3-way voicing toggle to shape tone from tight chugs to searing leads while maintaining clarity and definition. Its high output drives amp front ends hard for aggressive tone, and the single-pickup setup keeps the signal path simple and focused.
What makes the thin "C" neck and ultra-access cutaway practical for 8-string play?
The thin "C" profile (20mm at the 1st fret, 22mm at the 12th) reduces hand fatigue during long sessions, while the ultra-access cutaway lets you reach higher frets effortlessly without fighting the body. Combined with the 20" fretboard radius and 24 X-Jumbo stainless frets, you get a fast, smooth surface for precision and speed.
