Seymour Duncan SDBR-1n Duckbuckers Parchment Pickup
The Seymour Duncan SDBR-1n Duckbuckers in parchment white delivers a distinctive single-coil character with enhanced midrange articulation and controlled output. This neck position pickup cuts through onstage with clear, balanced tones across a wide frequency range, performing reliably in both clean textures and driven playing styles. Hand-built in Santa Barbara and engineered for the demands of gigging musicians, this pickup represents refined American craftsmanship you can depend on night after night.
Tonal Character & Construction
The ceramic magnet paired with a split-pole pattern featuring three pole pieces on each coil creates a balanced output with articulate highs and defined mids that project in a live mix. Wax potting eliminates microphonic squeal, ensuring stable, noise-free operation even at higher gain settings and maintaining your tone under stage conditions. The 2.5 DCR specification positions this pickup in the moderate output range, preserving dynamic response while delivering sufficient clarity for single-coil Stratocaster applications.
Installation & Compatibility
This neck-position pickup installs into standard Stratocaster routing with straightforward integration via the included 4-conductor shielded cable. The six fully adjustable pole pieces allow precise height adjustment to dial in your playing dynamics and achieve optimal balance with bridge and middle pickups in your instrument's electronics.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this pickup right for metal or high-gain styles?
No — the SDBR-1n is designed for rock, blues, indie, and clean tones. Its moderate output and single-coil character are optimized for articulation and balance rather than the high output and saturation metal requires.
What does the 2.5 DCR specification mean?
DCR (DC Resistance) of 2.5 positions this pickup in the moderate output range, preserving dynamic response and clarity while delivering enough punch for driven playing. This balance keeps single-coil definition intact across clean and driven settings.
Will this fit my Stratocaster?
Yes — it installs into any standard Stratocaster neck-position routing with the included 4-conductor shielded cable. Six fully adjustable pole pieces allow you to fine-tune height for optimal balance with your bridge and middle pickups.
What is wax potting and why does it matter?
Wax potting fills tiny air gaps inside the coil to eliminate microphonic squeal—the unwanted feedback that can occur at higher gain settings. This ensures stable, noise-free operation whether you're playing live or recording.
How does this compare to other neck pickups like the Fender Custom Shop 69 or DiMarzio HS-3?
All three deliver single-coil character with balanced output, but the SDBR-1n emphasizes defined mids and articulate highs with American hand-built construction and wax-pot stability. Your choice depends on exact tonal preference and whether you prioritize that specific mid-focused character.
