Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the Hot and Vintage versions?

The SJB-2B Hot uses more aggressive coil windings to boost output and emphasize the mid-range compared to the Vintage model, making it better suited to rock, blues, and funk tones that need more punch and presence.

Will this work as a drop-in replacement for my jazz bass?

Yes, this is a bridge-position pickup for 4-string jazz basses. The neck pickup (SJB-2N) is slightly narrower and reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum canceling when both pickups are used together.

What genres is this pickup best for?

The SJB-2B excels in pop, blues, classic rock, heavy rock, jazz, and funk. It is not recommended for metal or thrash metal applications.

Does this pickup come with anything else?

The pickup includes a logo cover and is part of a calibrated neck and bridge set design, though this listing is for the bridge pickup only.

Should I pair this with a tone circuit?

Seymour Duncan recommends pairing the SJB-2B with an STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuit for optimal tonal control, though it will work with any standard jazz bass wiring.
