Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Quarter Pound different from the vintage SJM-1 and hot SJM-2 pickups?
The Quarter Pound features hand-polished quarter-inch diameter magnets and a custom coil wind that deliver more punch, drive, and sustain than both the Vintage and Hot models, making it the highest-output option in the SJM Jaguar lineup.
Can I use this pickup in a neck position, or is it bridge-only?
This is specifically the bridge model. A matched neck version (RW/RP wound) is available separately and is often paired with this bridge pickup; many players also combine the bridge Quarter Pound with the SJM-2 Hot neck pickup for tonal versatility.
What genres and playing styles is this pickup best suited for?
The Quarter Pound excels in blues, classic rock, garage rock, heavy rock, classic metal, and nu-metal. Its punchy, driven character is less ideal for jazz, folk, or country applications.
Does this pickup come with a cover?
No, the Quarter Pound bridge pickup does not include a cover.
Will this pickup work with my Jaguar regardless of fingerboard type?
Yes, the Quarter Pound works equally well with maple and rosewood fingerboards and is designed to fit all well-balanced Jaguar instruments.
