EMG 60-8XH 8-String Active Humbucker Pickup in Brushed Black Chrome

The 60-8XH uses active electronics with an X preamp that boosts headroom and dynamic control, allowing transient detail to emerge even at aggressive gain settings. This active approach delivers more clarity and presence in dense tunings compared to passive designs, while maintaining a balanced, focused voice.

Yes, the 60-8XH is designed to fit standard eight-string humbucker routing. It ships with EMG's solderless wiring system, which makes installation straightforward without soldering required.

The 60-8XH excels in metal, djent, progressive, and other extended-range styles where tight low end and articulate mids are essential. It is not recommended for jazz, blues, or folk applications.

The pickup operates on a single 9V battery, keeping the circuit simple and avoiding the bulk of multi-battery setups. Battery life depends on your playing frequency; most players replace it annually or when output drops noticeably.

The close aperture coils and ceramic magnets produce a focused, controlled voice that maintains balanced midrange character across both high-gain and clean applications. The X preamp provides the headroom to stay articulate and defined regardless of amp settings.
