Description
EMG 707 7-String Active Soapbar Pickup in Red
The EMG 707 cuts through with articulate, punchy output built for extended-range 7-string instruments. This active soapbar holds its own in dense live mixes while staying clear across the full frequency spectrum—a go-to for players working heavy genres and lower tunings who need definition that actually gets heard.
Tone & Output Character
Engineered with Alnico V magnets and dual coil configuration, the 707 sits at a focused 1.91 kHz resonant frequency that keeps the midrange present without clutter. The 10 kΩ DC resistance and wide aperture coil design deliver tight, controlled response with minimal mud—perfect for picking articulation and note separation on lower strings where clarity matters most.
Active System & Installation
The active circuitry runs on a single 9V battery rated for 3000+ hours of playing time, so you're not swapping batteries between every gig. The Solderless Install System includes built-in 25k volume and tone potentiometers, stereo output jack, battery bus, and all required cabling and mounting hardware—no soldering iron needed, minimal downtime getting it in your guitar.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the 707 different from EMG's 81/85 7-string pickups?
The 707 is engineered specifically for extended-range 7-string instruments with a focused 1.91 kHz midrange presence and tight low-end response designed for modern tunings and heavy genres. Its wide aperture coil design and Alnico V magnet configuration produce minimal mud and maximum articulation compared to traditional active designs.
How long does the 9V battery last, and is it easy to replace?
The 9V battery provides 3000+ hours of playing time before replacement is necessary, which translates to roughly one to two years of regular playing. The solderless system makes battery access straightforward without requiring any soldering or rewiring.
Do I need to solder this pickup, or does the solderless system handle everything?
The Solderless Install System includes integrated 25k volume and tone potentiometers, stereo output jack, battery bus, and all required cabling and mounting hardware—no soldering required. The complete wiring kit eliminates installation complexity and reduces setup time significantly.
Is the 707 suitable for jazz, blues, or acoustic styles?
No; the 707 is designed specifically for metal, djent, progressive, and drop-tuned styles where tight low-end and articulate midrange clarity are priorities. Its punchy, focused tone profile is not optimized for jazz, blues, or folk applications.
What's included in the box?
The pickup includes the red soapbar, solderless circuitry with integrated potentiometers and output jack, battery bus, 9V battery connection hardware, pickup cable, connect cables, output cable, mounting screws, and all required installation hardware.
Do I pay sales tax on this order?

Marketplaces collect sales tax as the facilitator in most states, so the same listed price can cost more there. Buyers remain responsible for any use tax their state applies.
