What comes in the box?

The EMG HX ships as a complete system: the pickup itself, 25k volume potentiometer, active tone potentiometer, battery bus, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and all necessary connecting cables for solderless installation.

Do I need soldering experience to install this?

No. The solderless installation system eliminates traditional wiring entirely, reducing setup time and the risk of mistakes—a significant advantage if you're not comfortable with a soldering iron or want a faster, cleaner installation.

How does the single-coil tone differ from a standard humbucker?

The HX delivers the bright, articulate clarity and harmonic richness typical of single-coil pickups—ideal for cutting through a mix—while the humbucker housing and active electronics provide output and definition without traditional single-coil hum or noise.

What is the Active Tone Control, and how does it work?

The integrated VLPF (variable low-pass filter) allows real-time high-frequency roll-off, letting you shape your upper-midrange character on the fly without external pedals or effects—useful for dialing in the exact brightness you need for different songs or recording sessions.

What skill levels can use this pickup?

The EMG HX suits beginners through professionals across studio, home recording, gigging, and live performance; the solderless system makes it especially accessible to players new to pickup swaps, while its bright, high-output tone appeals to intermediate and advanced players seeking tonal precision.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

Sales tax is collected only on orders shipped to California; orders shipped to any other US state are not charged sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces collect sales tax as the facilitator in most states, so the same listed price can cost more there. Buyers remain responsible for any use tax their state applies. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included.

EMG HX Active Single Coil Pickup in Gold

The EMG HX delivers single-coil clarity and articulation housed in a humbucker form factor, making it an excellent choice for players seeking high-output definition without sacrificing tonal breadth. Its active electronics and solderless installation system streamline both setup and ongoing maintenance, while the gold finish adds visual distinction to any instrument.

Live Tone & Stage Performance

Built around a ceramic magnet with a wide frequency response, the HX produces a bright, clear tone rich in harmonic detail—ideal for cutting through a mix with precision on stage. The integrated Active Tone Control (VLPF) allows real-time high-frequency roll-off, giving you sculpting power over your upper-midrange character without reaching for external pedals during a set.

Fast Setup & Reliable Deployment

The solderless installation system eliminates the need for traditional wiring, dramatically reducing setup time and potential for error—critical when you're working against clock or troubleshooting in a venue. All necessary components—25k volume pot, active tone pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and connecting cables—ship with the pickup, making this a complete plug-and-play solution that keeps you gigging without downtime.
