Will this pickup fit my guitar, and how difficult is installation?

The EMG HX sits in a standard humbucker housing and fits humbucker routes on modern and vintage designs. Installation uses EMG's solderless wiring system, which eliminates traditional soldering and makes swaps quick and reliable; the complete package includes all electronics, cables, and mounting hardware needed.

What does 'active' mean, and how does it sound different from a passive single coil?

Active pickups use a built-in preamp powered by a battery to boost signal and reduce noise without sacrificing dynamic range or headroom. The EMG HX delivers single-coil articulation and snap while eliminating the hum typical of passive designs, and the X series preamp avoids the compression of older active systems.

Can I shape the tone after installation?

Yes. The integrated Active Tone Control (VLPF) lets you smooth or brighten high frequencies on the fly, giving you sculpting power over attack and presence without opening the guitar or swapping electronics.

What's included in the package?

The complete package includes the pickup, 25k volume pot, active tone pot, battery bus, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and a full cable set (pickup, connect, output, and battery cables)—everything needed for installation and first use.

What kind of music and playing styles is this pickup suited for?

The EMG HX works well for studio sessions, gigging, home recording, and extended-range playing; it is less suited to traditional jazz and folk styles that rely on warm, complex passive single-coil character.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.
