Is the SAV suitable for beginners, or is it better for advanced players?

The SAV works across skill levels—beginners appreciate the plug-and-play Quik-connect installation and forgiving, articulate tone, while intermediate and advanced players value its consistency and low noise floor for gigging and recording. It's designed to deliver clarity and reliability regardless of playing intensity.

What genres does the SAV work best in?

The SAV excels in rock, pop, indie, and studio sessions where bright, articulate single-coil tone is desired. Its tight, defined voicing and low noise make it less suited for metal and djent styles, which typically benefit from higher-output pickups.

How long does the 9V battery last, and is it easy to replace?

The SAV draws low current from a standard 9V battery, extending battery life in regular use. The included battery clip makes replacement straightforward—no soldering required thanks to the active electronics design.

Can I use the SAV in bridge, middle, and neck positions?

Yes, the SAV is designed to work in all three positions on 6-string guitars. Its 10.0 kOhm impedance and low output characteristic maintain organic dynamics and tonal balance regardless of placement on your instrument.

What's included in the box?

The SAV ships with the pickup itself, a wiring harness, a battery clip, and all necessary hardware for installation. The Quik-connect solderless system eliminates the need for additional tools or soldering skills.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.

EMG SAV Active Single Coil Pickup in Black

The EMG SAV delivers articulate, punchy single-coil character with the reliability and low noise floor of active electronics. This pickup excels in tight, defined voicings across bridge, middle, and neck positions, making it a dependable choice for touring and session work where clarity and consistency matter without sacrificing classic single-coil snap.

Tone & Electronics

Built around an Alnico V magnet with staggered pole pieces, the SAV produces a bright, focused response with a 4.41 kHz resonant frequency that emphasizes string articulation and note separation. Active circuitry powered by a standard 9V battery with low current draw ensures a noise-free signal path and extended battery life through extended sets and back-to-back shows.

Stage Performance & Installation

The pickup features an EMG Quik-connect system for fast, solderless installation and removal—essential for quick swaps between guitars or emergency repairs on the road. Its 10.0 kOhm impedance and low output characteristic integrate seamlessly into both vintage-style rigs and modern amp setups, maintaining organic dynamics across a wide range of playing intensities and venue acoustics.
