Description
EMG SLVX/SLVX/85X Active Pickup Configuration Set
This three-pickup configuration delivers the clarity and articulation of single-coil performance in the neck and middle positions paired with the punchy output of a humbucker in the bridge. The EMG SLVX pickups respond with crisp definition across frequencies, while the 85X provides aggressive midrange and sustain—a combination that cuts through live mixes across clean tones, crunch, and high-gain applications without sacrificing note separation on stage.
Electronics & Power
All three pickups run on a single 9V battery with solderless installation, eliminating the need for soldering during setup or future maintenance. The X-Series preamp re-voices the internal amplification to emulate passive pickup character while rejecting noise—delivering tonal warmth without hum or unwanted artifacts, ensuring reliable performance night after night.
Included Components & Installation
The set ships with everything required for a complete installation: solderless wiring harness, volume and tone potentiometers (both 25k ohm), battery bus, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and interconnect cables. No additional components or external modifications are needed to achieve a fully functional active system ready for the gig.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to solder these pickups into my guitar?
No. The set includes a solderless wiring harness and all required components—volume and tone potentiometers, battery bus, output jack, and interconnect cables—so installation requires no soldering or external modifications.
What genres and playing styles work best with this pickup set?
This configuration excels in rock, hard rock, metal, and progressive music where you need both articulate note definition and high-output aggression. It is not designed for jazz, folk, or country styles.
How long does the 9V battery last, and what happens when it dies?
Battery life depends on playing frequency and volume settings; the description does not specify duration. When the battery depletes, the active preamp will lose power and the pickups will not function until a fresh 9V battery is installed.
How does the X-Series preamp differ from standard EMG active preamps?
The X-Series re-voices the preamp to emulate passive pickup character and tonality while maintaining active noise rejection—delivering warmth and natural response without hum or unwanted artifacts.
What skill level do I need to install these pickups?
The solderless system and included harness make installation accessible to intermediate players, though advanced and professional technicians will appreciate the speed and reliability of the no-solder design.
