Description
EMG SV Active Single Coil Pickup Set in Ivory
The EMG SV delivers the articulate snap and clarity of a vintage Stratocaster with the reliability and consistency of modern active electronics. Built-in preamp circuitry eliminates noise while maintaining the instrument's responsiveness across the full frequency spectrum, making these pickups a straightforward retrofit for players seeking authentic single-coil character without traditional single-coil hum.
Tone & Electronics
Armed with Alnico V magnets and staggered Alnico V pole pieces, the SV captures a 1959 Stratocaster-modeled tone with a characteristic peaky response centered around 3000 Hz. The built-in high output, low noise preamp preserves that vocal midrange presence while delivering the clean, hum-free operation expected from active designs. On stage, this translates to a pickup that cuts through a live mix without feedback or noise floor bloat, keeping your tone articulate whether you're laying back in the pocket or driving hard into the front of house speakers.
Components & Installation
This complete set includes everything needed for installation: 1 volume pot and 2 tone pots (25k), a stereo output jack, a 5-way selector switch, mounting hardware (screws and springs for all three positions), three pickup cables, three connect cables, one output cable, and one battery cable. Factory-matched wiring and switching components mean no compatibility guessing—pull your old electronics and drop this set in with confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in this set, and do I need to buy anything else?
The set includes three pickups, 1 volume pot and 2 tone pots (25k ohm), a stereo output jack, a 5-way selector switch, mounting hardware for all three positions, three pickup cables, three connect cables, one output cable, and one battery cable. All wiring and switching components are factory-matched, so you have everything needed for installation without hunting for compatibility parts.
Will these pickups work in my Stratocaster, and do they eliminate single-coil hum?
Yes—the SV is designed as a complete Stratocaster retrofit. The built-in active preamp circuitry eliminates hum while preserving the responsiveness and articulate character of a vintage single coil, so you get classic tone without traditional 60-cycle noise.
How does the tone compare to other single-coil options?
The SV is modeled after a 1959 Fender Stratocaster and uses Alnico V magnets with staggered pole pieces to deliver that vintage snap and clarity. It features a peaky response centered at 3000 Hz that emphasizes vocal midrange presence, making it ideal for blues and rock rather than metal or high-gain styles.
What skill level do I need to install these?
These pickups are suited for intermediate, advanced, and professional players. Installation requires basic wiring knowledge; the complete component kit and factory-matched parts simplify the process compared to traditional single-coil retrofits.
What genres and playing styles work best with the SV?
The SV excels in studio sessions, home recording, gigging, blues, and rock. The articulate snap and vocal midrange character are less suited to metal or djent playing styles.
