Description
EMG SV/SV/SV with SPC/EXG Active Pickup in Ivory
The triple EMG SV configuration is built for players who demand articulate, high-output performance on stage and in the studio. The Ivory finish keeps things clean and classic, while the SPC and EXG controls give you surgical control over your tone across the full frequency range. This setup excels in high-gain contexts—modern or vintage—where clarity, sustain, and fast transient response separate a great take from a great performance.
Active Preamp Performance
Each SV pickup houses a built-in high-output, low-noise preamp with Alnico V magnets that deliver focused midrange articulation and extended harmonic detail. The EXG control shapes the presence peak with a 750 microamp current draw at 9V, pulling frequencies forward or back as your mix demands. The SPC control tames or sculpts the low end—together, these give you real-time tone refinement without sacrificing the raw output that made these pickups a stage standard.
Electrical Specifications
Individual SV pickup output hits 3.00V on a strum with a 2.41 kHz resonant frequency and 10 Kohm output impedance, ensuring tight articulation and fast transient attack that cuts through a live mix. The system runs on up to 27V DC with excellent battery efficiency—you'll get roughly 3000 hours per 9V battery in pickup-only mode. Engage the EXG control and battery life drops to around 200 hours at standard voltage, a trade-off worth making when you need that presence peak live.

Frequently Asked Questions
What genres and playing styles is this pickup system best suited for?
This setup excels in metal, hard rock, progressive rock, and high-gain styles, particularly when using drop tunings. The tight articulation and focused midrange make it less ideal for jazz, blues, or folk contexts.
What do the SPC and EXG controls do?
The SPC control sculpts low-end response to tighten or reduce muddiness, while the EXG control applies presence-peak shaping to enhance clarity and articulation across the frequency spectrum. Together they allow surgical tone refinement without losing the high output these pickups deliver.
How long will a 9V battery last?
In pickup-only mode, expect approximately 3000 hours per 9V battery. With the EXG control actively engaged, battery life drops to around 200 hours at standard voltage due to higher current draw.
What output voltage do these pickups produce?
Each SV pickup produces 1.00V on single-string notes and 3.00V on full strum, with a 2.41 kHz resonant frequency and 10 Kohm output impedance that delivers tight articulation and fast transient response.
What skill level do I need to install and use this system?
This is a professional-grade active system best suited for intermediate, advanced, or professional players familiar with active electronics wiring and 9V battery management in guitar cavities.
