What does solderless installation mean, and is it really beginner-friendly?

Solderless means the pickups connect via a simple 2-wire connector and battery without any soldering required. Yes—beginners can install this set in minutes using only basic hand tools, making it one of the easiest retrofit options available.

How long does the battery last, and what happens when it dies?

The 9V battery runs approximately 1500 hours between changes. When the battery is low or dead, the pickup output will drop; the set produces no sound without power, so you'll know immediately to swap in a fresh battery.

Will this eliminate hum completely, and is it good for recording?

Yes—the active electronics and -101 dB noise floor at 60 Hz eliminate hum and provide a clean, low-noise signal ideal for recording. The transparent clarity and focused midrange help vocals, overdubs, and layered arrangements sit well in a mix without unwanted background noise.

What genres or tones is this set best and worst for?

Best for clean tones, vintage-style warmth, studio sessions, and live performance where clarity matters. Not recommended for high-gain metal or thick saturation—this is a single-coil set voiced for articulation and control, not aggression.

Can I use this in any guitar, or is it Tele-specific?

This is a Tele-sized (SS configuration) set, so it fits standard Telecaster single-coil routing. It will not fit Strat or other multi-pickup formats without additional modification.

Do I pay sales tax on this order?

We collect sales tax only on orders shipped to California. Orders shipped to any other US state are charged $0 sales tax at checkout when you buy direct from our website. On this item that is roughly $16 less out the door than the same listed price at a national retailer or on a marketplace. Marketplaces such as eBay, Reverb and Amazon collect sales tax in nearly every state as marketplace facilitators no matter who the seller is, so the same item at the same price costs less bought direct. Free US shipping and 30-day returns are included. Some states ask buyers to self-report use tax on out-of-state purchases.

EMG T System Active Prewired Pickup Set in White

The EMG T System delivers articulate, controlled single-coil character in a completely solderless installation format. This active pickup set trades the typical noise floor of passive single-coils for transparent clarity and extended frequency response, making it ideal for players who want vintage-style tonal dimensions without the hum.

Active Electronics & Power Efficiency

Active Alnico V magnets and a solderless 2-wire connection eliminate wiring complexity while the 9V battery runs for approximately 1500 hours between changes. Output measures 1.00V per string and 3.00V under full strum, with an exceptionally low noise floor of -101 dB at 60 Hz—critical for clean recording and live performance.

Frequency Response & Tonal Character

Dual resonant frequencies at 4.50 kHz and 3.50 kHz create a focused midrange presence while maintaining clarity across the spectrum. The covered design contributes to the controlled, less-bright character typical of EMG's single-coil voiced pickups, with 10 kΩ output impedance ensuring compatibility with standard amplifier inputs and effects chains.
