What does the active circuit do, and why does it matter?

The active electronics eliminate 60-cycle hum and RF interference that plague passive single coils, delivering a noise-free signal in high-gain and studio environments. This also maintains consistent output and responsiveness across all pickup positions, so your playing dynamics translate clearly whether you're playing clean or distorted.

Is this set suitable for blues or jazz?

The TC is optimized for funk, fusion, modern rock, and high-gain applications where bright, articulate tone and tight output shine. Traditional jazz and vintage blues players typically favor warmer, less aggressive single-coil voicings.

What skill level do I need to install these pickups?

Installation requires intermediate to advanced soldering and wiring experience, as active pickups demand proper 9V battery routing and careful circuit integration. If you're new to pickup installation, consult a qualified technician.

How do the EMG TC pickups compare to passive single coils I might already own?

The TC trades the vintage warmth of passive designs for hum-free operation, tighter output, and more responsive dynamics—assets that matter in studio recording and high-gain playing. Passive single coils typically offer more character and breakup but introduce noise in electric environments.

What does this set include and what will I need to provide?

The set includes a complete pickup pair ready for installation and the active circuitry. You will need to source or have access to a 9V battery compartment and proper wiring harness for your specific guitar model.

EMG TC Active Single Coil Pickup Set in Black

The EMG TC delivers the clarity and articulation of a single-coil design with the noise-free performance of active electronics. This set pairs tight, controlled output with responsive dynamics—ideal for players seeking definition without hum in high-gain or studio environments.

Active Electronics & Output

Built on EMG's active circuitry, this pickup set eliminates 60-cycle hum and RF interference while maintaining consistent output across all positions. The active design preserves pick articulation and string separation, making these pickups responsive to playing dynamics and suitable for both clean and distorted applications.

Tonal Character

The single-coil configuration emphasizes treble clarity and midrange presence, delivering a brighter, more articulate response than dual-coil alternatives. Expect defined note attack and natural harmonic content—characteristics that cut through live mixes in funk, fusion, and modern rock settings where every note needs to register.
