Sound & Tone
The mahogany body brings warmth and sustain underneath the focused midrange of the single bridge-position DiMarzio JD Fortitude humbucker, giving riffs a thick low end that stays articulate rather than muddy. The 25.5" scale and roasted maple neck add tightness and attack, so palm-muted chugging stays defined and single notes cut through dense, layered arrangements. With one pickup and a lone volume control, it's a direct, no-fuss voice suited to modern metal, hardcore and heavy riff-based rock, though it cleans up recognizably when the gain comes down.
ESP LTD JD-1 Joe Duplantier Guitar Silver Sunburst
The JD-1 delivers a lean, aggressive playing experience through its offset body shape and thin U-shaped neck profile—built for extended sets and rapid fretwork without fatigue. Engineered around Joe Duplantier's signature vision, this guitar balances modern playability with purposeful electronics, cutting through dense live mixes with focused tone and articulate response that holds up on stage night after night.
Build & Playability
The offset XJ body shape sits naturally across the torso during seated and standing play, while the thin U-shaped three-piece roasted maple neck accelerates position transitions and reduces hand strain during intricate passages. Mahogany construction provides warmth and sustain, complemented by a 350 mm fingerboard radius and 22 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets that support both aggressive chording and fluid lead articulation across the 25.5" scale length. Road-tested ergonomics mean you can lock into your parts without thinking about neck comfort.
Electronics & Hardware
The DiMarzio JD Fortitude passive humbucker in the bridge position delivers articulate midrange clarity and controlled gain without artificial coloration, responsive to both clean and high-gain applications in live environments. Hipshot Tone-a-Matic bridge and tailpiece hardware ensures stable intonation and reliable sustain through long sets, while LTD locking tuners and a Graphtech TUSQ nut maintain tuning stability through aggressive play and frequent string bending—critical for performers who can't afford downtime between songs.
