JBL AC16 Ultra Compact 2-Way Loudspeaker (Black)
The JBL AC16 packs serious output into a genuinely compact package, making it a go-to choice for touring rigs and portable setups where real estate matters. Its ultra-compact enclosure houses a full 2-way system without compromise, combining a 1" compression driver with a 6.5" low-frequency transducer to deliver balanced tone across its coverage zone. Built with a multi-ply hardwood enclosure and durable DuraFlex™ finish, this speaker stands up to the road, pulling double duty in touring scenarios and permanent installations alike.
Sound & Projection
The AC16 spans a frequency range of 55 Hz–20 kHz (−10 dB) with a ±3 dB response from 65 Hz–18 kHz, keeping mids and highs clean and articulate while extending bass response for full-range authority. Its 90° × 90° coverage pattern locks in consistent level across the room, while the 160 W continuous / 320 W program / 640 W peak power rating delivers headroom for dynamic peaks without breaking up.
Build & Reliability
At just 381.0 × 199.4 × 226.1 mm and 7.2 kg (15.8 lb), the AC16 moves easily between venues and rigs without becoming a logistics nightmare. A 6.5" Symmetrical Field Geometry (SFG) transducer with copper-clad aluminum edge-wound 2" voice coil handles repeated touring stress and extended excursion, while five M8 suspension attachment points (one top, three bottom, one rear) let you rig it flexibly with brackets and stands to match your setup.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the power handling and output of the AC16?
The AC16 is rated for 160 W continuous, 320 W program, and 640 W peak power, with 16 ohms impedance. It pairs dual Neutrik NL4 connectors and a screw terminal for flexible wiring in touring and installation setups.
How compact is this speaker and what are its rigging options?
Dimensions are 381 × 199.4 × 226.1 mm and weight is 7.2 kg (15.8 lb), making it one of the lightest full-range 2-way speakers available. Five M8 suspension points (one top, three bottom, one rear) accommodate optional brackets and stands for flexible mounting in tight venues and mobile applications.
What frequency response and coverage pattern does the AC16 deliver?
The AC16 covers 55 Hz–20 kHz (−10 dB) overall, with ±3 dB flatness from 65 Hz–18 kHz. A 90° × 90° coverage pattern from the 1" compression driver ensures consistent output across the listening or monitoring area without lobes or dead zones.
How does the AC16 compare to models like the EKX-12, K8.2, or DBR10?
All four are compact 2-way speakers designed for touring and venue use. The AC16 uses a 6.5" woofer versus 12" drivers in comparable models, trading absolute bass depth for even greater portability and ease of rigging—best for smaller rooms, mobile rigs, or as supplemental fill speakers in larger systems.
What materials and finishes protect the AC16 in touring use?
The speaker features a multi-ply hardwood enclosure with a durable DuraFlex finish designed to withstand touring, installations, and permanent deployments without cosmetic or structural failure under normal operating conditions.
